Nebula Painting Wallpaper (Created in GIMP, lots of experimenting!)
#1
So I made this for the Wacom Dreams competition on DeviantArt. I was originally going to make a space scene of an astronaut walking on a planet or something, but then I discovered this totally awesome/abstract way of making a weirdo effect thing... and I messed around and it evolved into this nebula.

I call it the Phoenix Nebula. Big Grin (made completely from scratch)

It looks nice if you look like a second or two. But then it kinda goes bad.
I don't really like it and I think you messed just effects together. You should watch wat are you doing.

Actually I used very little effects/filters. I started with the paintbrush and painted a screen of red, blue and violet blobs. I used gaussian blur and then inverted the values, which give a sort of aura-looking thing. Then I repeated the process on a different layer to create the same thing with a different shape, and then overlayed them. After I merged them I added a layer mask and masked parts of it away to look more "cloudy", and then after that it was just some duplicating the layer and experimenting with different blend modes and making it a little more bright and colorful by changing the color curves. The only filter I used through the entire thing was Gaussian Blur. The rest was blend modes and color curves. I have 6 different files on my home computer with how I did it, I'll post em later.

Around 2 or 3 hours, I think. Most of the time was spent messing around with the layer blend modes.

I think it looks pretty good, but I'm not really into that kind of thing.

Agreed.
I have been studying the traits and dispositions of the "lower animals" (so called) and contrasting them with the traits and dispositions of man. I find the result humiliating to me.
