Just lying in bed at around 2pm today (15/03/2012) after a long night on TLF with the best people in the world and I got a phone call, this is quite unusual, lol, no onever rings me, I always get texts. So I answered the phone causiously and it was actually the hotel I went down to for a job. They said they was extremely impressed with the interview and that they're going to offer me a job but as I'm not 18 until another 4 months, I'll have to work in the back part of the hotel.
I'm so happy with this! No more sitting at home bored all day. No more endless days of college!! I've got to go down tomorrow (16/05/12 UK) for a trial day to see how I get on. I can't wait!!
I don't know exactly what I'm doing yet, I said I'm up for doing anything.
Opinions?

Congratulations. I'm actually pretty jealous, being 14 I can't get any real jobs, even behind the counter. If you can, you should see if you can get paid extra for putting advertisements up around your city.

You never ask a job to pay you more money. In fact, you never even ask how much you're getting paid. That's how people start getting sacked, and I'm looking to go in for the long run with this one.
You can serve behind the counter when you're 15, but you can still get a summer job when you're 14. I got my first job when I was 13...

I live in a tourist trap, most jobs are either taken or they don't trust your age group. I make my money selling fake products (telling them it's real) and doing my grandma's lawn in the summer, so I don't exactly have a need for a job anyways; but I love money, and I plan to get a job at a local pizzeria.
And I meant subtly, like recommend that they do more with advertising around the city and see where it goes from there.

I live in the one of the top 5 sea-side resorts in England (Skegness) that's why It's always best to start looking for jobs here in feburary. But you're not going to get a job just sat on your backside all-day my friend.
But as I side thing, for a bit extra money I'm starting to grow tobacco, to sell. I can get like £500 ($750ish) from just one plant, and I should get about 30...

Niagara Falls here, the worlds most popular tourist location. A majority of jobs here are made for managing hotels or working at the casinos, and working on lux restaurants. I'm not even eligible for a job at McDonalds due to my age, I'd have to wait until my birthday (May) and hope there's an opening.
That's great, by the way, I have a friend who does that with weed (it's my school's drug) and he's making a killing.

Congrats neighbour (I live in Scotland). Your one of the lucky ones these days who can get a job. I turn 19 this year and I've only ever had a job on a temporary contract.
Back on topic, I wish you well on your trial and hope everything works out for you.

What are the laws for growing tobacco in the UK? Obviously selling it is illegal but is growing it?
Congrats on getting a job by the way.
