Benefits of using Linux?
#21
I second mint for a starter Linux Distro. It will make the transition easier and since it's based of ubuntu you get basically every linux app at your finger tips.

From there I would maybe go to ubuntu but you could easily skip it and move debian even or Arch is amazing as well.

Linux is simply amazing. Fast and reliable are the two main features.

When installing any distro make sure you check the md5hash, otherwise you have wasted your time when the OS fails. And make sure you have the right architecture. i386/i686/x86 is pretty common for intel processors.

I think I'm gonna install it today. I'll look into the once you all have mentioned and decide from there. Thanks a lot!

I'm actually just about to install it. It's just finished downloading this second.

I hope my wireless card works with it, I've heard a lot of people have had problems with it.

It's usually they just don't know how to use it >.>
You might have to go to "Hardware Drivers" or something and click "Activate" on the wireless card. Or maybe you have to install an app to activate it. It really jsut depends.
