Should I host my webserver at home?
#1
Could you please list all the problems I could get into for hosting a web hosting server at my house?
California,USA

What i mean in trouble like if someone uploads; child porn will I be the one with the full blown blame or can I use evidence It was not mine?

most ISPs block the ports needed for serving web pages. thus, this option does not work. it is best to get an account at a shared host for starters, a VPS (virtual private server) for intermediate, and a dedicated or cloud server for higher traffic websites.

what kinda content are you looking to host?

well US ISPs are more money grubbing. They want you to get a business account to do that and it costs too much for the average joe.

Well if one of the people on your server host illegal content and they trace it to you that's your problem.

D3xus that is what I mean
My ISP don't care if I host my server or whatever
I am just wondering what may or may not have?
If my client host illegal content and tell the cops that it was not me but a client will I be the one blamed still?

And how do people in VPS/dedicated servers on other places do it?

Warez/child porn/illegal- black hat hacking is grounds for suspension.

Most VPS/Cloud/Dedicated providers do not allow warez,CP,and Black Hat and torrents. with torrents the content being torrented must be yours or you have rights to distr. the content.

Your ISP prolly has similar terms as well.
