Proper way to install Ubuntu 11.10 [question]
#1
I'm going to install Ubuntu 11.10 on my laptop dual boot with Windows 7.
The last time I tried, I messed up my Windows 7 and I have to do a clean install.
Because I have a laptop, I need to install Ubuntu on the same harddrive as Windows 7.
I need the steps for installing Ubuntu.
Should I make a free space using Windows 7 side for ubuntu?

Which Device for boot loader installation should I choose?

FIX:
1. Use Wubi (credit: Soul Extractor)
2. Download the right .iso file
3. put the Wubi and the iso file in the same directory
4. launch Wubi
Reboot
Done!

Why don't you just try wubi installer for Ubuntu?

1. What does the installation drive mean? is it where the Ubuntu will be installed on?
2. What does installation size mean?

1. Yep, Ubuntu will be installed there.
2. This is the size Ubuntu is going to take in the drive you chose in first step. It will pre-reserve the space in the drive.

I have successfully installed Ubuntu.
However, after I change the size of the partition (change from the windows 7 side) that it installed on, it shows "no such device" when I try to boot ubuntu. I searched a bit and I do not know what is the proper way to recover it.

I used Wubi to install Ubuntu.
But I change the size of the partition afterwards because my C: doesn't have enough space.
That messed up the Ubuntu side. And I don't know how to fix it.
