MyBB - It is simple, Clean, Light, Easy to use.

Vbulleting - Complex, Good design, Heavy, Harder to use

MyBB is better because it is simpler and it has more Plugins.

MyBB is nice and easy to use. But does not have better security than Vbulletin, nothing is encrypted as it gets sent in for a user login session. Vbulletin sends the %pass% variable in as an MD5 hashed version of the plain text, and MyBB doesn't. Maybe future MyBB versions will do this, but right now they don't.
