Avira Will detect almost all threats and you can tell it not to delete files.

Norton is bad? What version of Norton were you using to confirm this? Anything from Norton 2010 and up is good, and actually highest rated in 2011.

Malware bytes or Norton 2011. Norton can be a pain but it's worth it.

tbh i like AVG and Malware bytes is good to but AVG i think is top 5

I wouldnt really know, I only use Apple and they are quite hard to attract virus' on it.

Norton is actually a very good antivirus. If you want something that doesn't delete your file, Panda Cloud AV is a very good one. It is extremely lightweight, but it still has some great protection. If a file gets deleted that you want to keep, it is amazingly easy to restore it. Besides that, you can install some firefox add ons that will increase your security level. Comodo firewall is a must as well.

You need avast, and the internet security/ "Pro" Version is well worth $30 a year.
