no mixer device available error for volume control
#1
man is that error annoying as crap!

basically every time I turn on my computer, I get that error and have to go into my services.msc to start the service. oddly though, it's set to start automatically. I just updated my sound driver last night. the problem existed prior to the new driver install and after. what do you guys think the cause could be? a bug? a virus?

I'm running XP Pro SP3.

I had the same problem a while ago. In my case I installed the wrong driver. Double check if you have the correct driver but do not do that with using a program which checks the drivers. Report back if you have the correct driver.
Thanks

Try reinstalling the driver.

I would suggest a full reformat, then download the latest drivers from your manufacturer's website.

If you use a different driver, it will probably work.
