Make them look like wire mesh is what I mean then dont raise them as much

I like them both, they look good. Im glad you took my advice and made it skinnier, but they look good still.

I think they look perfectly fine at the height they are. I've looked at lots of different images of grenades and the squares on mine match up quite nicely. Thanks for the suggestion anyway.
Updated OP with more progress. Basically altered the shape a little more, and added some more detail to the top metal part.
