For GFX, I use Photoshop and only Photoshop. For video editing, I use Sony Vegas, Adobe After Effects, Cinema 4D, and 3Ds Max. Each program I use serves a different purpose.

The programs I use are Photoshop CS5, After Effects CS5.5, Sony Vegas HD Platinum 10.0, Cinema 4D, and Autodesk Maya.

If you just stay with photoshop it can get you fairly far if you work at it. From beginner to professional pieces, all you'll ever need is photoshop, unless you want to do some other stuff involving 3D works, then you can try to incorporate renders from Cinema4D into the mix. I only use photoshop though.
