That information was effective since February 2011 though. My information was from a couple weeks ago or around the beginning of this month. I never said Avira was bad, I said it wasn't at the top. Even at 4th place on one site for a source of information, it could do better. If we were talking about medals here it wouldn't even get a bronze in that case.

The one you gave me was dated last May 8, 2007. I think my February claim is much more credible. What credible sites state that BitDefender is currently at the top? I wish to see it. I suppose the answers here can't help but to have quite a personal experience touch. I heard you liked BitDefender, and I do like Avira.

SuperAntiSpyware isn't really that good anymore though with all of the up to date malware that we have. I remember it being decent in 2005 but not so much anymore.

I still think it is. Current malware analysts I know still use it for scanning. Also, aside from being 5 years late, the site you gave has a bad history. I would not trust it. I will not degrade its detection, but the real-time protection certainly has declined.

You want a reliable source PCMag is one of the top up there. CNET would be another too, and the site that you gave, but that information is almost out to date, for Antivirus information. It's always rapidly changing.

Well, I suppose so. Another site I would look at is Virus Bulletin. I am particularly picky when it comes to sites I trust. PC Magazine seems trustworthy though, otherwise it would've ran out of business a long time ago.

Woops, lol you did manage to catch me there, I was looking at the wrong date I believe... But Bitdefender, and Norton are at the top as of 2011.

It's decent, i'll say that. But not as good as it used to be for the updates in malware we have currently (as of today). I didn't mention that site in my list of reliable sources though lol. I only listed the ones that I knew were a reliable source for the finishing statement of my last post.

The one I linked you to is the latest. My source is from February 2011. Plus, it has been updated last April 13, 2011. The ones you've posted are from October 14, 2010, November 29, 2010, September 1, 2010 and two other sources with no date and terrible reputation as seen here and here. Also, PC Mag claims it is the best for 2011 when the testing date is too far-flung. It was being too futuristic. In the current review I have linked you to, BitDefenfer was ranked as the third, Avira as the fourth. I would have uncertainties since Avira's entry was only its free version and yet it got that rank. BitDefender's was its pro version, and Norton's as well, which is far from the other two we are discussing.

Just adding, I recently got MalwareBytes pro or w/e, and it is really good. I still do manual checks in case though.
