In history people used to be considered adults by the age of 13 and would already be married with kids in some countries. I'd say 16-17 isn't quite as young as it used to be, although people still don't understand too much about it at those ages. That's where they get into trouble, otherwise I don't think it would be much of a concern. Parents would be protective though, I know I would be.

If we're going to be taking this seriously, 16 is the age of consent, or the age of which our government finds one mature enough to make their own sexual decisions. However, this consent is never truly binding, and you'll even see couples claim rape.

But yeah, you can have sex at 16 legally if you agree and the other is within like, 2-3 years I believe. I don't really know, nobody follows that, these laws are stupid. At 18 I can tell you you can't even look at anyone under 18.
