Linux deleted

Well my brother in college needed a laptop to use for the last two weeks before he comes home. I gave it to him and he decided to install Windows and erased Linux. Well that sucks, but he said there is still an os.old partition and he can access the files...so how can I go about restroing it without losing much data. I know I'll lose all my customizations, programs, and probably bookmarks (which will suck badly).

Well I know that, but I can re-install Linux and then move the files. What will I lose besides customizations, programs, and bookmarks (as I haven't backed up my bookmarks recently).

Move the files from Windows to Linux? It's possible with an ext file browser.

Well I have the os.old partition, and the Windows one. I can create another partition that is shared by Linux and Windows and move it there.

That still isn't the problem, though. I need to know what else will probably be lost (bookmarks in specific. I use chromium)
