[Poem] New Year, Old Memories

Sweet memories we hold,
Fragile, yet strong.
Learnt so much in such short a time.
Done a lot right, and yet so much wrong.
For some was the birth of a new love,
The beauty of life knew no such breath.
For some it was success,
Glistening crown, glorious wreath.
For few, it was pain.
Broken heart, yet not mended.
But time heals all wounds,
As quickly as they ended.
For most, it was joy,
In one way or the other.
Its up to them to find it,
whether they want it or need it.
But for me, it was change,
And change I did.
Emerged from the ashes,
A fire left untended.
I've much to learn, a long way to go.
One step above me,
One foot down below.
The path, unsteady, unsure...

How quickly the year passed us by,
So silent. Just a wave, then good bye.
