That's not really a preview it's just showing each layer. Nothing wrong with that.
Also it's showing the boxes because you have told it to be transparent.
When you go to create a new file in the option "background contents" select "white" or "background colour" instead of transparent.

Yep ^^ When you create a new file, I believe in the bottom right there is a check-box for transparent background. Just un-check and you'll get a flat white background.
If you print with that transparent (checkerboard) background, it will appear white. The transparency is nice when working with layers.

Ya it is not really a problem, but as you can see i believe they just showed you haha.

Have you tried re-installing photoshop and updating all your graphic card drivers?

I had this problem as well, I just removed Photoshop
