I'm just glad your dad didn't pull the trigger.

Here's some more info on Lexapro studies: http://www.lexapro.com/about_lexapro/what_is.aspx

I haven't heard or have experience with patients using Cymbalta. Might have to look into that.

Please don't hate the meds, they do help aside from other treatment modalities, hate the health care providers who aren't responsible enough when giving meds to their patients. Have a nice day. Blackhat

You're very helpful here. Thank you. I guess you're right it's the health care providers fault.

I've been on a heap of meds over the last 5 years or so. I have psychosis, anxiety, bp, depression issues. Currently not taking meds.

Things they have put me on over the years:

Seroquel, Valium, Zyprexa, Zoloft, Klonopin, Xanax, Pristi-q, Rispiredone and a few others. I've tried most of the anti-psych drugs they make you a zombie. Prefer not to take them plus i was drinking a lot of the time i was on meds, so i had a few blackout sessions, not cool. Anyways haven't had a drink in few months or so and i stopped taking meds about that long ago too. Don't smoke, don't drink, don't do nothing these days, I'm in recovery! and on the DSP. A cool place to check out and talk random crap with a bunch of loonies is:

http://www.bipolarchat.org/

I used to hang out there a bit. Haven't been on in ages. "Kelli" is a nice chick she runs the show over there. The only way i can control my illness is to exercise and produce "happy" endorphins, eat well, lot's of fruit and vegies and crap, vitamins, all that good stuff. I reckon the meds make you worse and when you stop taking them your fudged! Can't rely on a pill to make you happy, well i can't. It's just a chemical imbalance from all the crap i put into my body growing up. Drugs are bad MmmmmmmKAY!

@Omni

How do i enable "youtube tags" ??on myBB? Do i need to get a plug in or something? I'm new to MyBB. I haven't searched that hard though.

@Vorfin

Thanks for the myBB [TUT]

You're welcome, it's my IRL job to be a primary health care provider anyway, and this time I can make myself useful in the boards.

What really irritates me is that most of the time, doctors and other health care providers just tend to over or under diagnose a patient partly because of the lack of usage of bedside interactions and some are lazy in interviewing their patients. Some just give meds and say "call me in the morning". Makes me want to ask myself, "What happened to patient rapport, nurse-patient interaction, doctor-patient interaction, explaining the procedure to the patient and family, etc?". So if you are not content with the service given to you by your health care provider or still cannot understand the modality of treatment and your condition overall, it's YOUR right to find another specialist and have a second opinion.

I'm gonna outline a few general medical rights later on so that members here will be aware of their rights as a client-patient.

I was diagnosed with Bi-Polar 2, meaning someone that has hypomanic, but not manic episodes,
meaning the symptoms of mania are generally less severe in type 2, without any psychotic features.

But I consider myself to be quite normal you know - really...;)

Well, I used to be on Diazepam, for some years, - [Valium], but sometimes also took Dihydrocodeine,
also called DHC, Drocode, Paracodeine, which was a favorite of mine, otherwise known as DF-118's.

Apart from that, some occasional Temazepam, aka Remestan and Tenox, among others,
those massive white, horse-tranqulizer type tablets, which I used to break into quarters, as they were so large...;)

There was a spell on Methadone, I will admit, but that was long ago,
but I have had some Bupranorphine in more recent times, that old
semi-synthetic opiate with partial agonist and antagonist actions,
if you know what I mean....;)

Nowadays, it's just inhalers for a bit of a lung condition, I've had for years.

Other than that, nothing.

That's some pretty mean meds you took. How'd you deal with the side effects? How did it affect your daily living and relations with other people?

Is your bipolar condition still a standing diagnosis for you?

I'm a bit curious as to what that lung condition may be.

I don't take any life-long medication. I am currently taking paracetamol for my flu. That should be alright soon, if not I might have to check to see if I have swine flu =(

And Omni; I don't exactly know, but I thought mood swings were only for girls? I'm not sure though...
And how old are your kids? I personally think teens are harder to control, but small kids are hard too.
