Same thing as -rep imo.

I wish I was able to do both +rep and -rep to either credit that poster or to warn other users, because there's always the occasional spammer, LQ poster, or "shadier" member. However, these kinds of people roam the forums reaping threads of quality with barely a consequence. You can't hide bad members by hiding the bad feedback. If it were to happen, I'd recommend having 100% public rep.

Will -rep ever be reintroduced to Support Forums?

It isn't your job to "warn" other members.

We have staff members to do that.

If you want to play moderator go make your own forum.

It's not pointless at all without minus rep. Positive rep doens't have to go up if people don't deserve it, and that cancels out the minus rep. Like Sickshot said, it's not your job to warn members, if you see them spamming though, you don't give them minus rep for it, you report the post.

You either think positively of someone, or keep your negativity to yourself. Arguments regarding reputation are very annoying.
Tbh, if you can't accept the good with the bad, then why do you even have the system in the first place? If you're going to have +rep and no -rep, then it's pointless to have it at all.

There are always going to be immature persons to roam our lovely premise, but that doesn't negate the fact that we need to be open about the failures and the achievements of both the community and the individual user.

I think you should read over some of the debates against that in this thread

Positive rep doesn't have to be given to those who don't deserve it.

Negative doesn't have to be included for that reason, and it only causes revenge rep, whether the original -rep'er deserved it or not.

And? Again, if you can't accept the good WITH the BAD, then it's pointless. Our world is beautiful because we don't have goodie-two-shoes roaming around doing everything perfectly. Omni's site, let him do as he pleases, but my opinion still stands. Let him do as he pleases. I've been around with Omni for almost 3 years on and off. So he'll do what he thinks is acceptable; with the inclusion of our feedback.

He's already rejected negative rep as an official decision for this forum though. I don't see how it's pointless though. You can have your opinion, but i'm just trying to open your mind to the way I see it because I really believe that what he's doing is logical.

What's the point of having -rep, when you don't have to +rep a member. Instead of a -rep, don't rep the person at all because he doesn't deserve it. If the person does, then they get a plus rep. That still creates a difference in rep amongst people, but it's only on the positive integers side of the spectrum.

If we had -rep, that would only cause revenge rep, and rep disputes that would have to get sorted out because people hate that. This is a support forum, we recognize people for what they do right, not for what they do wrong.

If you see something wrong in terms of the forum, then just use the report button to report the post/pm. It's not your job to give them minus rep for something that they do wrong as a warning sign. Let the mods/admin deal with it, and the bad weeds get sorted out to leave the good members in the mix.

Overall, creating a supportive environment.

And the verdict: (-) reputation is worthless
