I have no experience with jailbreaking so I can't write up a tutorial.

Have you done a Google search?

I have, but with the 3rd gen being rather new. there arent many tutorials out there. I have found maybe 1 or 2, but none have worked for me.

Ah, I see.

The best thing for you to do right now is wait.

If a member of SF can create you a tutorial then that would be great but if not, you'll have to wait and see if any start to appear on Google and so on.

Have you tried any other forums, maybe ones that are more dedicated to modifying phones and such?

I think that's a slight exaggeration but if what you/they say is true then you should be in luck.

I'll let you know if I find a tutorial anywhere, i'm currently searching for you.

I don't think there are many jailbreaks for the ipodtouch 3rd gen, I myself have a ipod touch 2nd gen and I used the software called blackra1n. It jailbreaked it in literally 4 minutes including the ipod touch reboot. You should frequently check on this site : http://www.ipodtouchfans.com/ to see if a new jailbreak is released and whether or not it has a positive outcome.

3.1.2 only has one crack yet I believe, which is blackra1n.

I haven't tested it myself but I suggest you downgrade to firmware 3.0 and use redsn0w.

I have experience with the Blackra1n jailbreak with 3.1.2. It's a relief after jail breaking 2.1.2.

Here's the blackra1n Windows link: http://blackra1n.com/blackra1n.exe
Here's the blackra1n Mac link: http://blackra1n.com/blackra1n.zip

All it is with Blackra1n is a click of a button. Run the .exe and you'll see what I mean. Your iPod must be turned on and hooked to your computer via the charging/syncing cable. Basically, the program will take you through the jail breaking process automatically. Press the button and it will show a picture of a wire pointing to iTunes. Shortly, if everything is going well, you'll see a picture of the creator of blackra1n." Once it finished loading, it will reboot, or you'll have to manually reboot yourself.

Keep in mind, if you turn off your iPod, you will have to connect it back to the computer since this is a "tethered" jail break. I've heard some loopholes for it but I'm still not too sure.

It should work, but if it doesn't, read this:

If you got to the point where it seems like it's taking forever or just frozen, just do a hard reset. Hold both the On and Home button for at least 20 seconds, that will shut it off.

If you're using Windows Vista or Windows 7, make sure you set the compatibility mode to: Windows XP Sp2. Also, run it as administrator.

Copy the "blackra1n.exe" into your C:\ directory and run it (as admin) from there.

-- I've tried it with an iPhone on Windows Vista (32 bit) and it worked fine without doing the above steps. However, I did it with my iTouch on Windows 7 (64 bit), and I had to follow the above steps.

If this really needs a tutorial, I'll be glad to make one.
