Something that pisses me off
#1
Well i know i have no right to complain, and this might sound a bit childish but i hate homework. I never really do it because in my view its useless, I would pass every class if it wasn't for homework. Teachers give homework so students that are less "smart" can pass without learning the material. But here i am trying to actually learn something else like code and how to build a computer and my teacher is almost failing me for not doing homework. Yet i don't even read the textbooks at night and i still have one of the highest test grades. I am the type of person who can learn just through watching and hearing. But since I am stuck in a class where every one else needs homework to learn this stuff it makes me look stupid. Its just so aggravating to no extent. I said this story but in a less condensed version and her response was we have to make it fair for all students. My instant though was, how is the fair to me. I am learning stuff to better my life in the future yet these people expect me to do hours of homework. Its just not fair to those of us who are more intellectual or others. No i am not saying i am a freakin prodigy or nothing but why do i have to waste my time with this crap.

Ugh, I know exactly what you mean. Why do I have to do homework when I memorize mostly everything by actually paying
attention in class unlike some people. Just because most are goofing off and staring at a wall doesn't mean others have to do
all this useless homework.
Your teacher is kind of right about the less "smart" people though. Some of my friends would have been held back already if
it wasn't for daily homework being graded.

I agree. The only place HW is require is a foreign language imo. It's a time waster, especially if it's math. 40 of the same-type problems does not help.

I used to always get ahead in math, so I did extra exercises and went
ahead most of the time. I stopped as soon as I noticed how repetitive
and useless the homework was getting. Why do so much extra work
in class when I have to get home and do around the same thing all over
again. Huh

Welcome to the public school system folks. Unfortunately, this also carries over to college to some extent, depending on where you go. The school system overall does not tailor smartly to all kinds of students, because it would require much more time, effort and money to do so.

It's not so much homework itself that's the problem but the approach that most schools take, hands-on is the way to go but as others have pointed out, it costs more and takes more time so they give you a written version that's a real bore to the students that know what's going on.

As for college, the written crap doesn't go away but there's a lot more hands-on stuff unless you go to a technical school where they focus more on real world application - in some schools at least, I'd recommend asking some students as sadly I've heard of some IT courses not prepping students enough as they're all theory based rather than actually letting them do it.

Honestly, I think *too much* homework is the bad part.

The whole reason you get homework in the first place
is repetition value. The more you do something, the more you
retain the knowledge.

I do agree buddy, I never do homework. I am one of those guys that learns everything just by paying attention & listening. Homework fails me in classes, while I pass all the test. It's not fair to us, but we still have to do it. Don't let some homework stop you from passing, since you know the material that good, homework shouldn't be a problem for you.

It does helps, but I pass with flying colors just by paying attention & listening in class.
