Is it possible to upgrade my processor?
#11
Yeah just asked my friend and he said you can't.
He said you can buy a new Alienware M11x with i7 built in but can't upgrade to i7 from the previous Intel Core Duo processor.

Your best options are to either overclock or buy a new computer.

I've enabled overclocking and rendering is now twice as fast.

Are there any damaging side effects to overclocking?

I don't want to totally screw up my computer just for a little bit of extra speed.

Carefully, carefully monitor your temperature. Overclocking can cause some serious damage through overheating, but maintained correctly, it can be very effective. Try a laptop cooler ($35 off!):

I thought the i7 processor is the highest at the moment, I'll take a look around and see if I can find anything which will suit you better.

Though irrelevant, you are correct. Smile
