This may be true, but you really dont learn much of linux if your being spoon fed for Ubuntu.

Arch and Gentoo are the quickest, why well because you can just use the terminal foe everything. Such as playing music, browsing the web, checking emails all from the terminal. But the quickest DE or WM would be Fluxbox or even XFCE.
