> How To Speed Up Menu Show Delay
#1
(Always Backup Your Registry When Performing These Kind Of Tasks)

Menu Show Delay to slow for you. then why not speed it up??

1. Open the Start Menu - then type regedit in the search box and press Enter.

2. In regedit, navigate to - HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\desktop

3. In the right pane, right click on MenuShowDelay and click on Modify.

4. Type in a number between 0 to 4000 - for how many milliseconds you want the Menu to wait before it opens, the lower the number, the faster the response time. It is not recommended you use 0 as it will be difficult to navigate through at that speed > 1 is ideal

5. Click on OK to apply.

6. Close regedit.

7. Then all you do is restart the computer to apply these changes.

To restart Explorer without rebooting, open the Task Manager Ctrl+Shift+Esc and end the Explorer.exe process. Then create a new task under File and paste explorer.exe

Now you will see a big difference!

Thats because it's in milliseconds. 400 to 1 isn't a big range, but it does help. There's lots of other regedits you can make to optimize your system. This is the easiest.

For everyone who dont see a difference you do know that this only speeds up the pop up menu's when hovering over right click menu boxes/start menu etc. If this is what you are looking to speed up then there will be an obvious change.

Remember to reboot your computer once the modifications have been done.

I'd just like to add that Windows 7 does take registry effects in use just by only logging out and then logging back in Smile Also nice guide, but i'm not sure if many people here will find it to give them benefits during the menu show delay. Thanks for the share!

Did you try rebooting before you commented, or logging out and then back in. As another member had mentioned it is true that you won't notice some registry edits until you reboot or log out, and back into your computer.
