Threat Kit: Lightweight Pen Testing Distro
#1
Threat Kit

Threat Kit is a project i have been working on recently,
its a live linux based OS intended for penetration testing,
unlike other similar distributions Threat Kit is designed to be
lightweight and minimal.

Threat Kit is based on Xubuntu 10.10 so it uses the XFCE desktop environment
which is more lightweight and has better performance than some of the bigger DE's
such as Gnome and KDE.

In addition to the base xubuntu programs, Threat Kit
also includes a number of tools for facilitating penetration testing:
  • John the ripper: an offline unix password cracker.

  • Hydra: a multi-protocol bruteforcer, cracker.

  • Nmap: the world's best port scanner.

  • Macchanger: a tool for spoofing your MAC address.

  • Dsniff: a suite of tools for arp poisoning and sniffing data such as
urls and ssh sessions etc, can also be used for DNS spoofing.

  • Wireshark: a popular GUI arp poisoner/network sniffer.

  • Aircrack: a suite of tool for accessing WEP and WPA protected WiFi networks.

  • Metasploit: a framework and set of programs for launching vulnerabilities
(No database is set up by default you will have to set up you own
if you want to use autopwn, raw socket and wireless extensions are enabled,
    auto updates).

  • Bittwist: a tool for forging ip packets, can be used to regenerate
network traffic with pcap files gathered from tcpdump.

  • Hcidump: a bluetooth sniffer.

  • Minicom: a tool for issuing AT commands, used for blue bug and OPEX push attacks.

Threat kit also includes some extra applications
not directly related to penetration testing:
  • Irssi: a command line IRC client.
  • Sakura: a lightweight terminal.
  • IDLE: a simple IDE for the python scripting language.
  • Leafpad: a lightweight GUI texteditor(mousepad has been removed).
  • Ruby: a powerful dynamic scripting language(can be used to write metasploit exploits).
  • Subversion: a software version control system.
  • Lynx: a command line web browser.
  • VLC: a media player that supports many formats.
  • Xarchiver: a lightweight archive manager

There are also some extra goodies included in the /extra directory,
right now only a wordlist for dictionary attacks and a Threat Kit wallpaper.

Its in alpha right now but if you want to try it anyway:
ThreatKit-alpha.iso
You may notice some(most) of stuff is still branded xubuntu, I
assure it will be changed in future updates.

Anyway im looking for people to join the Threat Kit team,
so if you're competent with programming, penetration testing, general linux or graphics
and want to help out PM me.
