Nice list you should have posted this few days ago, I had 2 notebooks that needed fresh install.
On one I've put EEEbuntu and on the other UNR, I can only say they are awsome.

They don't seem like OS's to me, they're more like for a mobile phone, i've got Windows on mine and it runs a treat.

I know this is an old thread, but I thought I'd contribute my opinion. I'm actually on a netbook myself--the HP Mini 1000. Puppy Linux is my distribution of choice. It's fairly small and runs very quickly with 1.6 Ghz and 1 GB of RAM on a 60 GB HD. It used to be quite minimalistic, but it's recently changed quite drastically. Lucid Puppy, which is the version I'm running comes with access to Ubuntu's Lucid Lynx repositories.

They're different. It tends to be faster and is definitely more stable. Depending on what you use on Windows, a move to Linux could be either painless or quite a struggle.
