Can someone scan a file for me?
#1
It's VB6 and it's obviously too big for virus total or any other online scanner. Post here and I'll PM you the link or simply PM me.

I greatly appreciate it.
I know can run it on a VM but I recently reformatted and don't really need a VM just yet.

I never have AV installed either just because.. I don't like anything running in the background when I'm on my computer. I never have anything on startup besides M$ essentials.

Thanks.

It's above 20mb so I can't use an online scanner as posted above. I appreciate it though. A member here already scanned for me and it was in fact infected.

Next time use sandboxie so you can open them and you won't get infected. Then proceed to scan Smile

Virus total has a max file size of 50Mb I believe, so the file must be over 50Mb.. I thought people couldn't distribute or discuss warez around SF though? :S Does that rule apply to PM's? Or unless you got this version from him outside of the sites use. MSN for example.

The guy you got it from though, seems like a trusted member. He still has knowledge to gain in some areas, but I'd say he's trustworthy Smile Depends on if he downloaded that crack from someone who isn't trustworthy though lol. And he doesn't have the antivirus to defend against the file intrusion, making him think that it was safe before he passed it onto you. But if it works for you then thats good.

I'm going to have to review SF rules again after seeing this though for personal knowledge.

EDIT: The rules say nothing about PM's specifically for Warez. Although I think that should be addressed at some point. It just says no posting of warez, hacking or any illegal information.

Oh no no no. He didn't send me a crack. He sent me a legit Key. No cracking/illegal anything. I downloaded the software from Microsofts site itself and applied nothing but a key.

I wasn't trying to spread anything or anything like that. I just needed to have something scanned that someone else sent me.

If this is breaking the rules. (Which I'm not sure if it does or doesn't? I wasn't requesting anything but a scan) I'd delete the thread if I could.

No you'd be fine buddy, don't worry lol i'm not the mean member who would go report you to Omni. I'm just curious to what the rules are myself on this. The definition of Warez from what I can understand isn't completely clear for everyone. It's mostly the distribution of software against copyright or unauthorized distribution of software by organizations as compared to "person to person" as on a lower scale.

He never said anythihing in the rules about PM's and the guy obviously didn't post you the key in a forum post. So you should be fine. I don't think that would really be considered "Warez" from the definition I get, but I think Omni just copied the rules from hackforums over to here to get the site running faster. I don't think all the rules are there, and some of them about grammar are more guidelines, since there are the odd few who still don't have good english... I'm done going completely off topic though lol, sorry Smile

You never posted anything on Warez, and your topic here was more about security than the keygen (or whatever file this is). No one posted anything on a forum itself. So there's been no rules broken from the ones that I see on the site.

Ah alright. Well even though you aren't reporting they might take a glance at it. The mods I mean.
Thanks for the heads up though. Thanks for clearing up Warez by they way. Tongue
