MyBB Quote Mark Errors
#1
Hi, well I have a MyBB forum (version 1.4.13) and recently, in around the past two weeks I've noticed an error on quote marks that are posted.

Before I would get some like this:
Code:
"Hello World"
But now I get added slashes, like this:
Code:
\"Hello World\"

It happens on ' and ". I don't know why it's been happening, on some threads former quotation marks are appearing normally but more recent ones are getting this error. I'd rather not update my version yet, so if there is some way I could fix this, it'd be appreciated.

If I have to upgrade my version to fix this error, could somebody link me to a beginners tutorial for upgrading? Much appreciated Smile

You should always upgrade to the latest version. I would recommend going to http://community.mybb.com/ . I'm sure they will be able to help you out with upgrading.

Your host needs to disable magic quotes.

And you should at least upgrade to 1.4.14 if you don't want to go to 1.6 yet, info is on the 1.4.14 announcement blog post.

Contact your Host Provider and ask him to disable magic quotes.
