Guide to becoming a quality member on SF
#1
Made directly for HF, but can be used for all sites. Project HQ era is the group that helped me make it. (They edited the mybb code) I hope you guys enjoy and learn something from this; feedback would be great guys!

Informational thread on how to be a good member w/ quality provided by project HQ era

First I would like to say that I am Robbieava from project high quality era. We are trying to get members to strengthen their quality here and overall make this a better site. Our group has made this and we hope that you enjoy it! Some of these things are qualities that can be used in HackForums and other forums, but even better; some of it can be used in real life!

[align=center][spoiler=Feel free to ask the following users questions at any time:]

Please do NOT PM any of these members with hacking requests. We will help you understand SF and how to fit in, but everything else is up to you

Removed until I have all the users links on SF

First things first are that your quality of your posts has to be fairly good. I mean when you are writing around the minimum character number it could say that you either aren’t as interested, or are just busy. I usually try to write about 1-3 sentences if I can. If you are commenting and it’s not that big of a post you could at least cover anything that you could have responded. Here are a few good ideas to ask yourself when posting:

Did I answer to the best of my ability?
Are most of the other posts more thorough then mine?
How could I improve this post?

Another good thing to do is make friends. If you see a post and you relate to them in some way for example: I make a post about call of duty 4. What you would want to do is PM them asking them what’s their favorite gun or just things like that to strike up a conversation. When you do that and you actually make a good friend here and there you can get your name spread around. If someone is talking about call of duty 4 with another guy they could say, “Hey, you know who else enjoys talking about call of duty 4? [Insert name]”

Next thing you could do is take advantage of your skills. If you have some good computer skills you will definitely want to make a tutorial or give away items that you get with your skills. For me I used to crack porn a lot and so then I would give away porn. People really do enjoy free things and your name can be spread around if someone’s in need of something they could refer to you.

A good idea for you to do is always try to be kind. If you are a rude guy you usually aren’t liked by many members and you can end up getting a lot of negative rep. I will also say in this paragraph is that keep your attitude neutral. If you are too humble it seems could get a little annoying, but if you are real egotistical it can also cause a lot of people to get mad at you and cause them to get a false presence of you when you could actually be a real cool guy. Also another thing about becoming egotistical; don’t ever let what users say soak into your head, because if you do eventually you will undoubtedly become egotistical even if you don’t realize which is never a good virtue to have on forums.

Respectfulness is something that I’d advise you to have on a forum. No matter whom you are talking to and however they are treating you; don’t ever let them get to your head. If you treat someone that is treating you with disrespect with respect others will realize that you are a mature member and know how to keep a cool head. Treating any other members that way just because will always get you some good pointers and could get you rep for being a good member.

It’s good to be confident, but never egotistical like I was saying above. When you are confident about yourself you could open yourself up to new opportunities. If you believe that you can make it onto the HJT team that is great! If you think you should be on the HJT team because you are well known and you are always good at everything, then you are being real egotistical and should tend to think the other way.

When you can, try to help new members. If you have the opportunity to help out a new member always try to take advantage of it because you can make another new friend and then you are now a role model to them because you helped them out and you want no reward but the fact that they thank you for what you did.

Try to become friends with staff. When I say that I am not saying go and PM them and say hey man what’s going on because they have a lot of work to do. So how would you come upon this without bothering them? Well first you should most likely find something that actually requires a staff to respond to. After that you can try to strike up a conversation, but only if they seem interested in having one. I would suggest before making staff friends make good friends with more well known users because most unknown users will have more of a chance to get blown off then a known member.

Quality users will always be some of the most liked users on forums. This is because they are always helping out and doing their best to help members with nothing in return. Not only does quality mean the length of your posts, but your attitude and almost everything I have been talking about because it’s usually based on a overall status of you: Cool, disrespectful, hard working, etc.

Join the groups of HackForums! There are a good amount of them to go around for about every user! They all have a unique attitude and for the most part there is one group for every user. Some are more difficult to get into, but they can really get you some good friends that will stay with you though out the whole time you are at SF or other forums.

Having good rep is always a sign that people are admiring your great qualities. Meaning that if you can it’s definitely good to be doing things that can get you rep that is staying within the rules. Being respectful is one of the best options I have up there to get rep without spending money or giving away things. Now I am not saying you can buy rep from people. What I am saying is that you can go to the marketplace and if you are an honest member you can for sure get some rep there. When I say this though do not expect rep. It’s just that when you are a trustworthy market-man you have more opportunities to get rep if that’s something that matters to you.

Be known in the lounge is something that can be good or bad. If you are a lounge whore you should probably look around for other places you can occupy yourself and get more people to talk to. If you aren’t really known in there for anything try to make up fun games that you could play with the members in a thread. Tell funny stories for the hell of it as long as you are making friends and you are presenting yourself as a kind/mature member then you are all set. The lounge is a place where you can make best of friends or worst of enemies.

Always keep in mind that other people have opinions too. What I mean by that is that I do not close myself off to my opinion on a topic and that’s it. If you had proof that the world was going to end in 2012 I would definitely stop believing what I believe; that it’s all just propaganda and a way for movie companies to get money. When you listen to other people opinions you can find out that their opinion is better, worse, or confusing. You can then talk them and prove yourself right, get more enlightened about his opinion, or just keep in mind that his opinion counts too.

Overall accomplishing your status as a good member is all ranked on what you think is a good member. If you think that getting 1,000 posts is a good member then that’s what your goal should be. There are so many paths and friends you can make when being a great member. Almost anything is possible if you put your mind to it.

I've really had nothing up until now to contribute to SF, so now I kind of feel a little bit better. Oui

Edit it so it's a bit more "SF"ish. HF isn't allowed to be discussed here, to my knowledge.

Oh really? My bad I didn't realize that. I'll fix that up. Can you PM me the links to all the PHQE of their SF usernames and I'll switch those in too. EDIT: And also PM me with things that look like they should change because I filtered the HF stuff pretty much.

See here is my take on this.
Forums strive on diversity.
Be it education, beliefs, opinions or whatever.
To characterise how all people should act in order to be a "good member" is wrong IMHO.
Hell it actually would depend on what your forum was actually about. For example.
Flame forum. Your rules would simply not work in this situation.
Debate forum. Well sure your ideas may work. But i think in this situation probably not.
SF. Sure that works well here.

Dont get me wrong. Your guide is good. Just the title did not work for me to be honest.

I understand where you are going with this.. what should I call it? In stead of all forums SF?
