Papa Spot Wrote:Proboards has never been hacked and I like

it's customization capacity. I got to where I could do scripts and some pretty fancy stuff (for

ME) when I was helping Mama Spot with her forum. Problem with PB is that, to my knowledge,

they don't have a down-loadable version. You've gotta use their servers and either put up

with ads or pay them seven or eight bucks a month for the rest of your natural

life.

I don't think I've ever had a proboards. I remember Happy got one for

me once... but he never Opened it...
So, I wouldn't know about it's customisation abilities,

but in my opinion, nothing can top MyBB's customisation abilites! That's just MY

opinion though! Tongue

I don't think I'd want to put up with ads.

And, you can install

MyBB directly onto your OWN domain! No ads, nothin'.

FW is right on the size, ISR. I remember noticing how small it was when I

visited their site.

Well, I might give it a test drive if you guys will help me. But I gotta tell

ya that I am PROFOUNDLY ignorant. I don't even know what a local host is. I just do design

stuff.

Localhost is just on your computer.
You don't have to worry

about any of that.

What you need to do, is download MyBB 1.2.1 and extract the zip file,

go to the "Upload" folder, and upload everything that is in that folder, to /forum or /mybb on

your website (server).

Now, once you upload everything, you need to go to phpmyadmin

(which you should have on your server, since you have wordpress installed, or you might

have cPanel to manage your MySQL Databases.)

But anyhow, you need to create a new

MySQL Database, and name it "mybb" (without quotes), for instance.

Once you have the

database made, go to: http://www.myoklahomalife.net/yourdir/install/

That should be the

setup for your MyBB Board.
Click next on the pages until you come to the Database Setup,

and put in your database name and password (usually your ftp password).
Leave the table

to mybb_

Now, click next and let the tables create, and finish the rest of the

setup.
The you have your board setup, and can start managing.

(And come back to

here and read this when having problems Big Grin)

THANKS, ISR!! I'm not ready to do this just yet because I'm waiting for

my host to upgrade my account and add a new domain name. When they have that done, I'll

probably wait until I see you online some evening before I give it a shot.

Thanks again,

ISR!

Thanks, FW. I just

found it in another thread and you are now linked.

Don't you also have a design forum

for MyBB or did I hallucinate that?
