I'm not an expert, but it seems like the REM stage wouldn't occur if you were sleeping. That'd just be really uncomfortable. The thing with your eyes flickering rapidly is why it's called "rapid eye movement" (REM). It happens every time you sleep, but most people never experience it, because they are asleep. I don't know if you can experience it during paralysis, but perhaps yo ucan.

i also used to paralys when sleep when i was kids.
but now not anymore.

I used to get it when I was 14 - 15, I always experienced a pain in my chest when I had SP, and when ever I tried to move I'd get a pulsing pain in my head, I hated SP, but I sort of kinda got used to it, but not completely, haven't had it in ages.
