use a cotton wool buds with /methylated spirits/cleaning alchhol.

This is a genuine common fix. I used to work for a game and console reseller. This is how we did a LOT of store repairs.

I tried to do a similar fix I found somewhere else with my last xbox that got RROD, failed miserably.
I just ended up getting it professionally reflowed for 50 dollars or something =/.
