Too be honest if I were you, I would go with Windows, I personally love it, but if your into Ubuntu's, you should go for it.

It's quick, lag-less, and different. Perfect if you're looking to learn about Bash, Linux's command line language. Often, people use Ubuntu as a stepping stone for more advanced distributions. It's basically an all-purpose Linux distro, however.

Windows 7 if you like a pc that's ready when you first boot it up and if you would like to have access to all programs. ubuntu if you want speed but you will have to spoon feed it, until its ready to use.
