Here. I tried that site myself, and this is how mine came out:
Is that what you were going off of when you said it looked 'good'?
If so, it's because that image is considerably larger than what your favicon's actual size is.
I would recommend getting someone from the Graphics section to transform your image into a favicon. I got an SF user to render a large image from my logo and turn it into a regular sized favicon for free. It's much better if a human does it, as opposed to an automatic script.
