I worked fast food for years. Starting at 16 I was at Taco Bell. Later I spent 4 years of my life at Burger King. It was the worst job and the best job. The learning experience was huge. You'll learn a lot imho about crappy jobs and poor people. If working in fast food for a year doesn't motivate you in life to do better than you're screwed. In the fast food industry you'll see what it's like to get underpaid and overworked.
That being said it's still a semi-fun job. The great part of it is the free food. I was actually a kitchen manager at the Burger King in NYC right next to the World Trade Center. One of my friends from that era 20 years ago is still with BK Corporate and making $xxx, xxx per year as an executive. So there is room for growth and serious income with fast food. But you have to pay your dues.
At 15 I also did telemarketing. It's another crap job. Can't say I learned a lot or liked it but the options at 15 aren't many. Heck I've been working since I was 13.
