Getting over an ex.

If so have you gotten over it?
Again, if so, how?
I am sick of this pain...

Many people claim you never fully get over your first love. Mine? I'm very sad he was sentenced to prison, but my sympathy is primarily reserved for his family.

I was pretty heartbroken when I had to divorce my first husband upon the discovery that he was cheating. I was devestated for a very long.

How did I get over it? I set it as a goal for myself which I worked my butt off to acheive, and did! I am so much happier with my 2nd husband that I only wish I could send that girl my first husband cheated on me with a thank you letter and great big fruit basket!

I did all kinds of things to keep myself busy, exercise, volunteer work, painting and decorating my new place. And I dated, almost any and every one! I announced my availablity as a date for; weddings, social functions, association and award dinners, you name it, Yo! Here I am! I clean up nice to look pretty good on a guy's arm, so my offer was a great success.

How do you stop thinking about your broken heart? I reminded myself of a famous quote from Alice in Wonderland, which I repeated frequently, which goes like this:

Quote:"The horror of that moment," the King went on, "I shall never, never forget!" "You will, though," the Queen said, "if you don't make a memorandum of it."

A certain amount of greiving is normal, but if it's already been 2 years? It's time to move on so every time you find yourself thinking about her and getting depressed, force yourself to stop. Do whatever it takes to erase those thoughts from your mind. Tell yourself that every time you fail, that you will give $5 to a homeless person, run 2 miles, offer to do your mom's housework for a week -- and then do it!

Just think about it. If you give $5 to a homeless person every time you think about your GF, before long you should realize just how much this girl is costing you, not just in terms of dollars, but in terms of your own peace of mind, by continuing to live rent-free in your head! Serve the eviction notice!

If you continue to do this faithfully, before long you'll find you won't have to force yourself to do anything. The less you think about her, the sooner you'll forget pretty much everything about her.

I wish you the best of luck!
