I'm 17 and graduating this year. I'm moving to Boston (approx. 1.75 hours from where I live now) for school. It will be the first time I'll truly be on my own managing myself. I'm not scared, but quickly realizing that things will be much different than they are now.
I think it'll offer a great opportunity to "grow up" and learn what it's like to be an adult in a more regimented setting.
If I were to not go to college and just move out and find a job, I don't think I'd be able to. I've been carried through my life and would just completely fall on my face. At least with school there will be some support and room to gradually become more adjusted to living on my own.
To OP, don't worry about it. You'll mature and when the time comes you'll be ready. Enjoy your childhood while you can, once you have responsibilities life blows, lol.
