Hi everyone. I need help urgent.
I just bought a new 1TB internal hard drive today. It’s a Seagate Barracuda 7200.12. For the longest time, I’ve been using a small 80GB Western Digital internal HD. I needed more room so I decided to change. I’ve never had an issue using Windows 7 on my 80GB HD. The 80GB HD is an IDE and the new 1TB that I just purchased is a SATA HD. My motherboard support both IDE and SATA. On my motherboard, there was an IDE slot where my 80GB WD drive has always been plugged as well as four SATA ports at the bottom right with marking “SATA”, SATA1”, “SATA3” and “SATA4”. That’s how I know it can support both.
I needed to buy an adapter for my new 1TB HD because it does not have the 4 power molex pins. It only has the SATA power cable and SATA data cable. So I used an adapter like this http://www.linuxappliance.net/media/cata...dapter.JPG Everything seemed to be fine until I booted my computer for the first time with my new 1TB hd. When I try formatting the drive using my Windows 7 32-bit installation disc (which I can assure you is perfectly functionally as I have used it several times on various computers and laptops) it gives me the following error. http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/7389/98699633.png At first, I wasn’t quite sure what to do but then I thought it might have to do with my BIOS. But I don’t really know how to use it as I’m not to savvy with computers. This is how my BIOS looks, I scanned my computer’s user’s manual. http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/1984/biosr.jpg Since there was nothing I could do in the BIOS, I decided to scan my system with the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor. The scan finished and my system passed. That’s when I realized there was no point in doing so since I’ve always had Window 7 but just on another HD. Here are my computer’s specs while using the 80GB WD HD. http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/91/pcspecs.png
I have no idea what to do now. I can’t install my OS on my new 1TB HD so I’m stuck deciding whether my new hd is compatible or there’s something I need to be doing. Regardless, and advice would be helpful. I’m really desperate at this point and would try any troubleshooting.
