Try turning the iPod off COMPLETELY. Then turning it back on / replugging it back in. This should work Smile.

Hello.

Try resetting it. I dunno if it's the same on iTouches, but on iPods you just hold the Menu key + the center key together till you see the Apple logo. It varies from model to model.

They are iPod Touches, not iTouches....
But anyways, yeah, to turn off an iPod Touch, hold down the Sleep and Home keys for about 2-5 seconds.

Once it is off (you should see a completely black screen, clicking the Home button once should not turn the screen on, like it normally would), you must hold the Sleep button for around 2-5 seconds. Then it will take around 2-3 minutes to completely reboot.

What operating system are you running?
Windows XP?

I had this problem a little while ago, i'll try and find the information that helped me fix it, no it wasn't resetting it.

I apologise, but I fear for your lack of reading comprehension. I was clearly implying 'iPod Touches'. when I said 'iTouches'.

Here is what apple has to say, and I'm 60% sure this is what i used with my phone.

Also, some people have tried resetting their computer without any luck, but when they turn their computer off and leavfe it for an hour, it suddenly decides to work!

If it doesn't work, does your computer pick it up? As in does it make the noise when you plug it in? I know you've said iTunes isn't detecting, but I'm just making sure!

As soon as I read about this post, iTunes wouldn't pick up my phone :S

A restart fixed mine, did you try the troubleshooting steps from Apple?

Does it make that sound when you plug it in that indicates new hardware has been detected? Have you also tried reinstalling iTunes?
