Does anyone else excel in foreign languages?

Fluent in English, and I've taken 2 years of Spanish, pretty strange since I actually learned Spanish from public school, and now I'm quite fluent in it. I took French, and I did not like it one bit. =\

I understand foreign languages more than I speak. I am Greek and speak some Greek but understand more due to the fact I am spoken in that language by my parents. When my parents got divorced my step mother is Spanish so due to the understanding of the Greek language I understand Spanish as well as what I learned in school which is an immense quantity. In conclusion, I am somewhat alright in foreign languages depending if I have the potential to learn or not.

Yes, both languages are similar. In Spanish class I do better due to the fact I understand Greek and some stuff mean the same or similar.

No, they aren't o.O They might have some cognates, but English and Greek have some cognates yet they aren't similar. Greek is a Hellenic language, and Spanish is a Romance language. In fact, Greek isn't in the same family language as any living language today. Maybe this thread will shed some light?

Nope, in Spanish class when are teacher says words I know them since they are similar to the Greek language I know.

EDIT: Well maybe some cognates as you said but usually sometimes Greek words match with the Spanish words which helps me.

I had to get chuched out of my class because of bad behaviour, and it was all because I disliked the subject (FRENCH).

Im from Holland and the only language that I can speak is english, I learned german a bit on school but I don't speak German very well.

I taught myself both Dutch and French by various methods, but a big--but not at all the biggest factor--help was Rosetta Stone. I believe that I excel in languages.

The first language I learned on my own was Dutch, and I took to the language very quickly.
French, however, took much longer. To fluently learn French--at a technical level--took around 4 years in comparison to two years with Dutch.

I've never much been one for Romance languages, but I do enjoy speaking French.

I'm bilingual going on trilingual. I know English and Spanish fluently, and I'm currently taking French in school.
