Background image question?
#1
My friend's going to design a background for a website for me. The client would like the image to be able to stretch to fit the monitor of whoever is visitng the website, so that the image is not forced to repeat itself? Thanks.

Unfortunately you cannot stretch a background image, your options are to have a really wide image that most resolutions wont exceed, to have a background that tiles but looks like it stretches or to have the edges of your background image blend into the background color.

You will find on most sites that appear to "stretch" if you stretch them wide enough you will find the edge of the image (you might need dual screens for this), this is an example of the first method I mentioned.

^^ Not true.

You can use "div" container, placing it as a first layer: css( z-index and background-size )

I don't believe that's supported by many browsers. It will be nice when it is though.
