I've owned 2 dogs and 3 cats, and I have to say that I much prefer cats over dogs.
I'm a cat person.
I find dogs really hyper active and a little bit scary, the dogs at my work place jump up, run to the door, bark loudly, poo everywhere. All the dogs I've met in my life have been similar to this (luckily none of the others poo everywhere!) but I've also been chased, and bitten by a dog for no apparent reason (I was standing at my friends door, didn't even see the dg, it just ran over bit me and ran away!), which might go towards my fear of them, I just scared to be around them, I don't like them jumping on me and the noises they make are loud and ear piercing. They are so dependant. I like cats because they, to me, are the opposite to this. They don't scare me, I find them calm and laid back, I feel they are generally clean and neat animals, they are independent but still enjoy my company. I often cuddle up to my cat, she sleeps on my bed with me and shows me affection. I see them as very graceful, intelligent, independent, loving, they give me a lot of joy and I feel at peace with them. I don't feel on edge. The noises they make are sweet and quiet. It's just how I view it, a friend of mine is the opposite to this, she find cats very scary, and dogs very wonderful.

I have never had a cat before, I LOVE dogs.
I currently have three and I can honestly say they can be my best friend at some times.

Cats for sure. Dogs are nice and all but cats look after themselves and it's just much less of a hassle.
I've got two cats myself and they pretty much keep each other company and steal off the other cats in the neighborhood if I forget to feed them

I would have to go with dogs, because they're dogs.

Well cats have the independent nature, and dogs have the loyalty factor. I would have to say dogs because they have more human like emotions to theme, that to me is a very important attribute.

I don't know.. dogs for the loyalty.. cats for more cuteness.
