As for the OP, find something else to occupy your time such as gum or sunflower seeds. Even dip would be a step up from smoking. Now let's calculate the changes of getting hit by a car, a bus, a plain or what ever other solid object that could kill you. After that add the pollution and other toxic gases, not to mention serial killers, just killers, gangs, punks, drunks, etc... I think going outside for 5 minutes is deadlier than smoking for 20 years.

It wont work, I've been smoking for 3 years and I tried smoking 2 full packs in a row, I didn't finish them all but I was majorly ill for the rest of the day but the next day the cravings were still there and I still wanted another smoke.

You're logic seems a bit off here though Neko: Quote:I think going outside for 5 minutes is deadlier than smoking for 20 years. I've been outside for, lets just say for the sake of argument... 40-50% of my life? I have to go to work and I had to walk to school every morning, and back, and all the sports and traveling i've done. Now we compare to some of the elderly out there. I know my Grandma has lived a lot longer than some of the residents that she lives with, and they were on oxygen tanks. Yet those former smokers now don't live their anymore, and my Grandma still does. Take a moment to analyze why. Some of them had heart attacks by the way, but they also had cancer at the same time of that event. 5 minutes of being outside compared to 20 years of smoking? You've got to be a heavily self-motivated smoker who just has no interest in quitting to say that. Take a look: http://www.who.int/mediacentre/factsheet...index.html Now don't all the top leading causes relate back to the side effects of smoking? Personally I don't know anyone who knows anyone who knows anyone who has died or has any problems from smoking. So no, I don't find smoking bad or something that somebody needs to quit. Even drinking coffee can lead to side effects, but I don't see people making a big deal about that. It's just a "hate wagon" crap about smoking.

Try out the electronic cigarettes many people quit with them.

Throw them away. Start to eat bubblegums with a strong taste instead of smoking cigarettes. It worked pretty good for me.

But the issue here is that you take that as a reason for why smoking can't be bad for you just because you don't know of anyone personally. Drinking coffee is not even nearly as bad as smoking. There's no chemicals in coffee comparable to that of the ones in a cigarette. That's just silly to compare the two in my opinion. And to sum things up on top of all of the statistical bad effects it has. Here's the way I view it: |
