Omni's Secret Hidden Inside Tricks
This is our off-topic lounge area where fun is the norm. We ask that topics are PG-13 please but other than that just enjoy yourself.

Nothing there to say we cant talk about war.

Well today Omni closed a good thread that had not broken ANY rules!. No flaming just healthy discussion.
Now i can only assume this thread was locked because Omni is from the US. This is not a reason to close a thread simply because we are discussing your home land and you may not agree with whats said.
Hell its a world wide issue this thread we started and should never have been closed.

I come back to SF to help it grow. To assist in threads i can and to create ones to help others.
But s-hit like this just pisses me off.
F-uck it. Rather than complain i will just hang up my boots.
Healthy debate is obviously not what you want for SF.
Yet you allow spam s-hit to remain and crappy html links to remain.
F-ucked if i know what you want SF to turn into but i am not going to be part of it.

Sorry to the loyal members of SF.
I really enjoy chatting to you guys but im not going to be part of a forum that acts in this way. Its simply wrong in my opinion.

Coming back on the site I thought that thread was a great show of the maturity of this forum. Members of different countries had an intelligent discussion over a totally appropriate matter. War exists, evils exist, censoring it is wrong.

He did explain though that he personally didn't want any kind of in depth debates here like that which could cause tension between members, debate sections have been mentioned in the past but not implemented for the benefit of keeping a supportive atmosphere for the best of SF to maintain itself. I would agree on both sides to a certain extent, but better to keep things at a minimum like that. Terrorist is a fairly heavy word, and becoming a more offensive topic for ethnic groups. It may not be bad to talk about, but the perception does differ.

If you look at it that way, there's no true reason to get too worked up about it.

Discouraging it is right though. Did you know that between the major countries of the world we have enough nuclear power to blow up the world several times over? Russia, and the US especially. There's no reason for war in my opinion. No matter how bad something is, it's always about greed.

Land, resources, money....

The more we agree to accept that it exists, the more human nature thinks it's right to use.

DAMINK rules aren't going to be completely accurate on every level for anywhere. There is a certain degree to which we have to assume ideas that involve common sense as part of the rules list. For example, we could choose to list off everything:

-No swearing
-No child pornography
-No scamming
-No hacking
-No threatening messages
etc...

But usually we give members the benefit of responsibility to assume some of those things. And being a support community I, in this case would actually have to agree that we should keep that kind of content limited. It may not say in the rules, but what does the forum name tell you about what kind of atmosphere we should encourage here?

I can understand why you might be angry, but I think that's a fairly naive conclusion to come to considering he only stated it "wasn't appropriate for this site".

DAMINK, don't worry about it man. I can see what he means, the discussion was a bit of a touchy discussion. As for the rules it wasn't against them, and I thought we were getting quite a good debate about it, but if he doesn't want it then he doesn't.

Omni has mentioned he's going to be opening a debate forum soon, so when he does I'll just re-open the discussion on there. I did put quite a bit of time into typing up the post, but I can just C&P it again, it's no problem.

The other side of the story though DAMINK is that threads like this don't reflect the atmosphere that this community is suppose to maintain lol. Not at all supportive, but if you like insightful topics like that where you can debate something there's lots of opportunities to do it in blogs and things like that. Breshie's apparently right though, if Omni creates the debate forum, then you can post it over there and see where it takes itself.

I could see it coming after he'd expressed his dislike for such topics to be discussed here at Support Forums. I agree that it's against the tone of the community, but if threads are going to be locked and there's no rule against it, something needs to be done. We can't go on having unsaid rules.

Yes true. And no warning was given. The topic however was closed.

That thread was nothing but flame bait. I don't need any rule to lock a thread I deem inappropriate for my site. I won't allow this place to turn into some hate filled troll fest.

This topic locked too. And I hate locking topics on SF too but I know this thread will go nowhere.
