Pando Media Booster...
#1
So, I get this pop up saying something about Pando media booster...

Immediately I'm like, "what the fuc|k?". Anyway, I un-installed it. It gave me a bit of a scare as I am very careful when it comes to my computers and what's installed on them.

I've read up on this thing and some say it's adware or spyware, some say it's actually good. I don't know, I can only assume it came from Mozilla Songbird as I downloaded it a couple days ago and it is a media player...

Any thoughts?

I didn't had anything like that with the SongBird, and I also don't think that it's malicious app, unless you got it the wrong way Big Grin

When did the Popup appeared?

Maybe it didn't come from songbird, but I certainly haven't installed anything new or unknown to me lately.

It popped up randomly during some browsing on youtube. Anyway, maybe windows media player installed it some how. I don't really know.

It's gone now and everything seems fine. Just really weird.

EDIT: I downloaded flyff recently as I was bored. I guess it came from there, after reading it seems to come with quite a few games for some reason. There should really be an option in my opinion as it can waste bandwidth. Anyway, it's not malicious, just annoying.

Its just a downloader. I used it when i downloaded a game. With apparently "turbo charge" option. Dont know if it actually makes the download faster. (Never turned it on)

You could say it does work like a Proxy, if there are many people downloading the same thing as you, it will boost up your DL speed.

It often makes multiple connections to the same server/mirrors to speed up your connection a bit.
[Completely Honest. Seriously.]
