EDIT: I just found the Ficons on MyBB Central.

I don't feel it's needed to be honest, I think it makes the forum unique, but other than that I believe it's not really needed.

I personally don't think they're needed.
The way the forum looks at the minute is very professional, and adding Ficons in my opinion would ruin that.
They work great on some forums but I don't think they would be beneficial here.

Take a look at the section of which I quoted you, you said "You can use Ficons from HF". It's a plugin, it doesn't come from a website and he made it.

All righty then, that makes more sense.
If I could change my poll option to 'no' I would, on a second thought.

As a change to the site? It'd certainly give it a 'fresh' feel. Which is good, besides I don't even use the on/off feature anyway. They are always "new" since I never mark all forums read.

I say yes, if it is done right. If it's over done it won't help.

I do agree with your last point partially, if done correctly it will benefit. Perhaps new on/off buttons instead.
