How long does a full format take?
#11
Yeah, but isn't there a option for a quick format?

Yes, but a quick format isn't the same as a full format. If I did a quick format I would still be getting the problems I had before.

Depends on the drive, different HDDs different read/write speeds so different format times.

For example an SSD (Solid State Drive) Formats very fast.

If I stop the full format process will I have to start from the
very beginning and wait again or will it pick up where it left off?
I imagine that since all my computer is doing is changing all the
bits to '0' then it can just speed through the parts that it has
changed already and resume where it started.

Yes hours is indeed correct. I have tried it, it got so boring I thought it had not made progress and I quit it.

Yeah, I quit mine because I was doing it on my laptop so I am starting over on my desktop. I'm on holiday for a week so it should be done by the time I get back.
