But why was the computer slow before all of this happened...?

I'm so confused. I guess the boot up files are messed up.

The computer went slow because either A/V is doing its job to remove the infection causing a spike in CPU performance or errors in registry/system files including missing/corrupted files in causing Windows deprive of the files needed to run properly (bootup files might be damaged).

If all fails, including repair OS with disc, running sfc /scannow in command prompt, chkdsk /r in command prompt for possible hard drive corruption, booting in safe mode, recovery console, system restore, AV rescue disc, unable to boot up at all, probably the best option is the last option to do a re-format of the hard drive and re-install OS.

If you can't complete installing Windows, its time for you to change hard drive.

Well when it was acting slow the AV was off for 15 minutes like I said.

I'll run the recovery disc and open a command prompt...what should I be looking for?

Check health of the hard drive by "Chkdsk /r" to repair bad sectors.

Use Windows File Checker to verify all Windows protected files are intact by typing "sfc /scannow" (Might prompt for Windows Disc. Make sure you have the disc before proceeding using this step."

Both of them didn't work for other reasons.

Note: This is a laptop that is pretty new. I installed W7 using a .iso because I deleted it once before. From the looks of it I won't be accessing Windows for a bit...I only need it for oovoo and itunes though
