well does your ipod have a camera? If not then it can't be 4th gen, so go with 2nd gen firmware, use redsn0w to jailbreak it, simple.

Ya I was cautious about jailbreaking my iphone but it went just fine, quite handy too. I haven't jail broken my 4th gen ipod yet though.

Sorry for another question, does it matter what version of Redsn0w I get? (meaning Redsn0w 0.9.6b6, Redsn0w 0.9.6b5, or Redsn0w 0.9.6b4)

Omg i had a jail broken iPod touch it was so freaking cool, But it got stolen in school i left it in my gym locker and i guess it didn't lock right when i came back it was gone Sad i was so mad.

The warranty on this is long gone.

Also, is Cydia the only jailbreaking program? (I know you use Red sn0w to jailbreak it but once it's jailbroken, you get Cydia on the iPod. Is Cydia the only program you get on your iPod or are there others?) Sorry if that was confusing. :S

Yes,yes there is but I recommended cydia.

There are plenty of games that are free and good, just go to the app store and click the top 25 free games. Read some of the descriptions then download the ones you think will be fin to play
