You're just using built-in GIMP tools.

I'd agree with him, if thats all your using, then you aren't really doing much. There's no impressive feature to it, try using some of you're own skills and imagination to add to it. It's good for starting out though, you'll get better. There's not really a whole lot you can do with the image the way you have it right now, you could cut out a text layer from the pattern and apply it somewhere else maybe though?

I'm just starting ideas for you, but just the image, and the effect doesn't really do it. There's not a whole lot we can say about it until you start using some of you're own creativity. It would be like us rating the effect built in GIMP at the moment.

the majoirty of the picture was'nt even made in gimp. I just used the weave function...
I added some new effects but I dont think you guys will like it still

It looks like you've just added a weave effect, some noise and blur. There isn't a whole lot you could use that render for as an image just in itself. Chances are it will never look good if you are just adding effects like that. Try adding some text, a render over top of this (with some editing to make it more suitable as a background though). The way it is now it just doesn't look very good sorry. GFX is more than just adding effects to an image. It's more of a mix and creation using combinations and mixtures of effects as well as images.

I'm not going for the perfect definition of making graphics, but hopefully you get the idea.
