I received a couple speeding tickets when a few years ago. Wasn't anything major, both were about 10mph over the limit. So neither were reckless. I just got unlucky in that every time I got pulled over it was the same police officer. The first time was a verbal warning. Then a written. And then he started getting angry and wrote tickets.
Since I've been living in California (going on four years soon) I haven't received a single ticket. I don't drive like a jackass anymore though. But I think a lot of it has to do with how everybody around here drives like a moron anyways. It's easy to just blend in when stop signs are treated as yields.
