New iPod Touch update?

Hey guys
Many of you have iPod Touch's right?
Do you get that popup thing saying about a new firmware needs to be installed to download the new apps

Or is it just me?
The update costs £3.99
And i was wondering if i could get a cracked copy, since i use the iTunes vouchers for buying apps. it wont let me buy the update with them

I didn't get any message, mines in for repair though, it wouldn't turn on, could this of been why? maybe i didn't upgrade it in time, and it broke? I think i just went dead flat for some reason, because i brought a new charger, didn't work, so maybe i was too late to charge it, because my charger was broken, and the battery is now screwed.
